Cacao Fragrances

A cacao accord brings the aroma of cocoa powder, dark chocolate, roasted beans, or bittersweet confectionery into a fragrance. It can smell dry, dusty, nutty, creamy, earthy, or liqueur-like, depending on whether the composition emphasizes raw cacao, chocolate dessert, or roasted depth. Cacao is common in gourmand perfumes, but it also works well in darker woody, amber, tobacco, patchouli, leather, and spicy fragrances. Paired with vanilla, tonka, coffee, almond, caramel, or milk notes, it becomes comforting and edible; with woods, resins, or vetiver, it can feel drier and more sophisticated. The accord adds richness without always being sugary.
