Coffee Fragrances

A coffee accord smells roasted, dark, bitter, and aromatic, with facets that may suggest espresso, coffee beans, mocha, café au lait, or dry coffee grounds. In fragrance, it can bring energy and depth to gourmand compositions, especially when paired with vanilla, caramel, chocolate, milk, tonka bean, hazelnut, or sugar. Coffee also works well in darker settings with patchouli, tobacco, leather, woods, spices, rum, amber, or incense, where its roasted edge feels more sophisticated than dessert-like. Some coffee accords are creamy and comforting, while others are smoky, dry, or almost burnt. The note often gives perfumes a cozy, addictive, slightly nocturnal character.
