Leather Fragrances

A leather accord suggests tanned hides, suede, saddles, jackets, gloves, smoke, tar, or polished upholstery rather than one single natural material. It can smell smooth and luxurious, dry and smoky, bitter and animalic, or soft and powdery depending on the construction. In fragrance, leather often pairs with birch tar, labdanum, saffron, iris, violet leaf, tobacco, oud, patchouli, amber, woods, spices, and rose. Some leather accords feel elegant and tailored, while others are rugged, dark, or rebellious. The effect adds structure and sensuality, giving compositions a tactile quality that can be refined, vintage, smoky, or boldly modern.
