Salty Fragrances

A salty accord evokes sea salt, sun-warmed skin, mineral spray, salted caramel, brine, driftwood, or the clean tang left by ocean air. It can feel fresh and marine, dry and mineral, savory and skin-like, or sweet-salty depending on the fragrance around it. Salty notes often appear in aquatic, beachy, gourmand, woody, amber, and modern musk compositions. They pair well with marine notes, citrus, coconut, ambergris-like materials, vetiver, sage, fig, vanilla, caramel, woods, and white florals. Used subtly, salt adds texture and realism; used more boldly, it can create a windswept coastal mood or an addictive edible contrast.
