Woody Fragrances

A woody accord smells like timber, bark, shavings, roots, sawdust, resin, driftwood, or polished furniture, but its mood can vary widely. It may be dry and pencil-like, creamy and smooth, smoky and dark, earthy and rooty, or clean and modern. Common woody directions include cedar, sandalwood, vetiver, guaiac wood, oud, cashmere woods, hinoki, cypress, and amber woods. In fragrance, woody notes provide structure, longevity, and a grounded base for citrus, florals, spices, musk, amber, leather, tobacco, and incense. Some woody accords feel elegant and minimalist, while others are rugged, forest-like, creamy, or powerfully ambery.
